Raidurgam: Socialist party on Thursday hailed High Court at Hyderabad for coming down heavily on the State government and private entities in the case related to construction of illegal structures in Malkam Cheruvu. And for continuing with the stay order on any work at the lake.

Dealing with the case ‘Government-Aparna illegal structures inside Malkam Cheruvu’, the Chief Justice observed that constructions inside the lake would be a conflict with law and directed the counsels of State government, HMDA and PCB to submit a detailed report on the restoration of lakes by next hearing on October 4. The Chief Justice made sarcastic remark that “Micromanagement does not mean ‘microing’ the lakes and rendering them small and warned of ordering prosecution to all officers involved in such illegalities, as it amounts to conflict with the law and a criminal liability”.

Dr Lubna Sarwath, state general secretary & spokesperson of Socialist Party (India), hailed the approach of High Courtand said that it would fully coordinate with Chief Justice for a restoration of natural resources of Hyderabad.  “We fully trust that under Chief Justice tenure, Hyderabad would again be a home to active and fresh lakes, to reverse the current situation where government and its agencies create land out of lakes, waste all the rainwater and pull water from 250 km and trump this as an achievement,” she added.

Earlier on September 6, The Hans India reported that GHMC admits before High Court at Hyderabad that 3.25 acres of Malkam Cheruvu was affected due to GHMC and Aparna constructions in the name of beautification of lakes. Counsels for the Malkam Cheruvu, Advocate Anjana Reddy & Advocate Sameer Ahmad pointed out GO 33 of 2013, where no construction can be undertaken in a water body or its buffer zone. Acting Chief Justice said that construction inside the lake is against law.  Judge had then ordered GHMC to file an affidavit with measurements along with details of constructions done and next plan of construction inside the lake.
