Modi has done nothing for the poor: KTR

Update: 2018-09-29 05:30 IST

Hyderabad: IT Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday said that the BJP government led by Narendra Modi had done nothing for the poor people of the country and there is nothing the BJP has which it can say it has done for the people.

The Minister was addressing the gathering at Telangana Bhavan, where BJP leader Vijender Reddy from Karimnagar joined TRS on Friday. He said that in 2014, people had attraction towards Modi but now his graph is going down. “People are now introspecting... they expected something will happen but in turn they got beating in the form of note ban, where people had to stand in huge lines to get their own money.

It was just campaign, and nothing has happened,” said Rao. The TRS leader alleged that BJP government failed to implement the promises made in AP Reorganisation Act. They did not give clearance to Bayyaram, division of High Court.

The only thing they did was gave AIIMS at the last minute, said Rao.  “Recently, Amit Shah (BJP chief) and Smriti Irani (Union minister) came to Hyderabad... they came but could not tell what they have done for Telangana. They have nothing to tell,” said Rao. The BJP government did not take any decision on ITIR during their tenure, he said. Rao said that Telangana gives more than what it gets from the Centre. “Growth rate of Telangana is 17.17 per cent and second State is Chhattisgarh, which 7 per cent less than Telangana.

We are giving more what Centre is giving to us,” said Rao. He recalled that Prime Minister Modi, Union Ministers appreciating TRS government’s functioning.  Referring to the promises made by Congress party, Rao said that as per the experts to fulfil the promises made by Uttam Kumar Reddy, the budget of six southern states would also be insufficient.

He mocked the Congress promises stating, “Now they would arrange brides for unmarried youth, they will provide food to them...Uttam Kumar Reddy will change diapers of the children...women will be offered gold etc.,” said Rao.  He took exception to Congress-TDP alliance. “Modi is saying Cong mukth Bharat but NTR (N T Rama Rao) long back said Congress should be thrown into Bay of Bengal.

Chandrababu Naidu backstabbed NTR and took post. Now he has made NTR’s party a tail party of Congress,” said Rao. He also targeted Telangana Jana Samithi president M Kodandaram for having alliance with Congress for just three seats.  “Alliance is good but there should be one criteria for having such alliance.

We had alliance with Congress in 2004 because Sonia Gandhi promised Telangana. In 2009, we had alliance only after TDP gave a letter supporting Telangana,” said Rao. Rao said that if the Congress-TDP comes to power then the all the projects in the State would have to be stopped because TDP is against Telangana.
