1600 participate in Purple Run for Alzheimer’s awareness

Hyderabad: The second edition of the ‘Purple Run’, to create an awareness on Alzheimer’s disease was organised by Forum Sujana Mall on Sunday. The Run started at Forum Sujana Mall and passes on through Cyber Tower junction, Trident Hotel, IKEA, Bio-Diversity and returned back to the mall. The first edition of the run witnessed more than 700 participants and this year the count crossed 1600.

The Purple Run had 4 categories of running distances - 3 km (Family Run), 5 km, 10 km and the half marathon distance of 21km, giving each participant an opportunity to run in their comfort zone. Cash prizes worth Rs. 17 lakh and gift hampers were distributed to winners. The top cash prize are Rs 35000 for the 21 km run, and Rs 20000 for the 10km run and gift hampers for the runners in the 3km and 5km categories. 

The Purple Run was organised at all 7 Forum Malls across 6 cities (Whitefield, Chennai, Mangalore, Mysore, Bangalore and Udaipur) simultaneously from their respective malls. Tanveer Shaikh, cluster head, Forum Mall, Hyderabad said, “The 2nd edition of purple run focuses on brining awareness about one of the leading causes of death in our country. The donations collected at the run will be given to National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) and this would not have been possible without the 1600 participants that helped us making this run for Alzheimer's a huge success”
