Rythu Bhima balm for deceased farmers’ families
Kothagudem: As many as 38 deceased families of farmers received insurance amount under the Rythu Bhima Scheme (RBS) in the district. According to official sources, there are 55,171 farmers who are eligible under the scheme.
As of now, 38 farmers have died since the launch of the scheme on August 15 in the district. According to the scheme, the insured farmer’s family get Rs 5 lakh on his death. Thus, in all 38 families in the district received Rs 1.75 crore under the scheme, said the officials.
For the success of the family, the Agriculture department plays an important role. As soon a farmer dies due to various reasons, the department immediately sends the details to the insurance companies. The department also takes steps in getting the amount sanctioned for the deceased family. The insurance amount is deposited in the deceased farmer’s nominee’s bank account within ten days of his death.
The farmers who are in 18 to 59 years age group are eligible under the scheme, said Assistant Director, Agriculture Department, Abhimanyudu. He said as many as 38 deceased farmers’ families have got the benefit of the insurance scheme in the district. The insurance amount will also be released to another three deceased farmers’ families in few days, he added.
Praising the government for the scheme, A Laxmaiah, a farmer, said the scheme is very useful for the farmers. No government in the past implemented such schemes for the farmers. Not only that the scheme, its prompt implementation is also commendable, he added.
