Will Balayya’s visit rejuvenate TDP?
Khammam: Telangana TDP leaders have a lot of hope from the actor and politician Nandamuri Balakrishna’s visit to Khammam district on Monday. During his visit, Balakrishna will inaugurate the statue of former chief minister NT Rama Rao in Khammam on also participate in the party programmes apart from a roadshow in the district. Pinning their hopes to regain their lost glory, the TDP leadership and party cadre want utilize the charisma and craze of the film actor, the son of N T Rama Rao and Indupuram MLA Nandamuri Bala Krishna.
Therefore, TDP leaders are oiling their machines to face the ruling TRS party in the upcoming Assembly elections. Claiming that it is ready to give a tough fight and defeat CM KCR and the ruling TRS party, the T-TDP is gearing up to start the political campaign on a grand note in lone Sitting assembly seat in Khammam district from Sattupalli constituency.
The party sources announced that Balayya is going to participate in the impressive road show in the streets of Sattupalli for the victory of the party candidate Sandra Venkata Veeraiah after inaugurating the NTR statue.
Former MP and politburo member of TDP, Nama Nageswara Rao in a recent meeting held in Khammam said, the TDP cadre remained on par with the Congress in spite of strong Telangana sentiment in the previous elections. The TDP empowered the backward classes and down trodden during its reign. Many from these communities have risen to prominence in the political field and are forever indebted to the party.
Tulluri Brahamaiah, the TDP district president said, the structure of the party remained intact even though some of the leaders have departed. The party still has strong cadre and ground level workers in every village across the State and are backbone for the organisation.
He exhorted the party cadre and loyalists to work hard to participate in the Balayya’s road show and help the party repeat its impressive winning in coming up Assembly election.
Former MLA, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah said the TDP helped women become leaders of Self Help Groups (SHG), education and water management committees in villages. Such measures taken ensured the party still retain village level cadre loyal to the party.
Moreover, the initiatives taken for development by TDP when it was in power have enabled Telangana to have surplus budget but not by the TRS government which driven the surplus State into debts.
Expressing his confidence he said that the party will emerge as strong force and will play a key role in the formation of the government after the next elections in the State.
Political analysts believe that for any political party, it is the ground level party workers who play a very crucial role in taking the party into the public and said that the T-TDP party still have strong cadre and ground level workers in various constituencies present across the State. Particularly in the Sattupalli, where the party has a sitting MLA Sandara Venkata Veeraiah, who won two consecutive times on TDP ticket.
Though the TDP has lost its clout completely in Telangana it has the ability to bounce back and regain its lost glory . The party have still some big leaders in its kitty and has got some positive opinion among people belonging to Backward Castes present in the State, they added.
They observed that Bala Krishna, being a film actor is a good crowd puller and would prove as good star campaigner for TDP to start political campaign in Telangana.
