Congress leaders remember Gandhiji
Khammam: The leaders of the District Congress Committee (DCC) celebrated 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on a grand scale here on Monday.
Former DCC president Banothu Somla Naik and Congress Committee women wing leader Gandham Sitha Mahalaxmi paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his portrait at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan in Khammam.
Speaking on the occasion, B Somla Naik said Gandhiji played a key role in India’s freedom movement. He deeply believed in non-violence and led the movement to achieve freedom to the clutches of British.
He urged the youth of present generation to fulfill the aspirations and dreams of Mahatma Gandhi and strive for building up the nation and lead the nation towards development.
Later, the leaders of the Congress party paid tributes by garlanding to the statues present at Gandhi Chowk, Grain Market road, Church Compound areas in the city.
