DGP reviews security in Maoist-affected districts

Kothagudem:  After the killing of TDP MLA by the Maoists in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana police is taking all precautionary measures in view of upcoming Assembly elections in the State, particularly in Naxalite-affected districts.  

In this regard, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy on Monday held a review meeting with police officials of three Maoist-infested districts regarding security preparations for the smooth conduct of State elections.

The police officials from Maoist-infested Kothagudem, Khammam and Mahabubabad districts attended the meeting which was held at the SCCL guest house in the coal town. 

Later speaking to the media persons, the DGP said whenever the elections are conducted in the State, the Police department is making all preparations and taking precautionary measures so the polls are held peacefully. In this regard, the department conducted a review meeting with the police officials of Bhadradri-kothagudem and Khammam and Mahabubabad districts. 

“In this review meeting, we discussed how to take precautions in the sensitive villages in the Maoist-affected districts during the elections. District wise review meeting was also conducted,” he added. 

He told clearly that everyone should utilize the right to vote in the State elections. Therefore, all precautions will be taken in every village to provide security to people to ensure that they can cast their votes. The sensitive villages have already been identified across the State, he added. 

As per the Election Commission guidelines, the officers are performing what duties were explained in the meeting, he added.  The face recognition technology would be used across the state to prevent the crimes, said the DGP. 

The meeting was conducted in two houses with all cops from the three districts attended.  The Warangal Range Inspector General Y Nagi Reddy, Intelligence Inspector General Naveen Chandh, IG Prabhaker Rao, DIG Pramodh kumar, and Bhadradri-Kothagudem district SP Sunil Dutt, Mahabubabad district SP Koti Reddy, ASP Sangram Singh Patel and other officers attended the meeting.
