Eight villages declared Open Defection Free in Gadwal
Gadwal: Commemorating Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations on Tuesday in Jogulamba Gadwal, District Collector K. Shashank declared 8 villages in 6 mandals as open defection free (ODF) in the district.
While congratulating the people of these villages who have fully supported and worked in coordination with the requirements of the officials to build individual toilets in the district, the Collector said, “Marking the Gandhi Jayanti, we decided to declare 8 villages of 6 mandals in Gadwal as open defection free villages. Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation, an apostle of peace and non-violence, had advocated Swachh Bharat and motivated millions towards achieving cleanliness.”
“Moving ahead in his footsteps, the people of Gadwal are also committed to make the district one of the OFD districts in the country. As part of this we have decided to declare 8 villages as ODF free villages,” he said.
On the occasion the Collector announced to hold grama sabhas in Baswapur and Singaram village in Alampur mandal, Batladinne village in Etikyala mandal, Jilledu Dinna in Vaddepally mandal, Kottapally in Gadwal, Gudidoddi, Venisompuram in Ija mandal and Kottapally village in Gattu mandal of the district.
Before declaring them ODF, the Collector decided to hold grama sabha and wanted the people of these villages to use the Individual latrines and asked them to promote the same to others in the district.
So far, the district Collector has given administrative sanction of constructing ILs to 67, 000 households in the district. For which, the government is providing a financial assistance of Rs 12,000 to each family who are economically poor.
“Already there are few villages in the district which have been declared ODF free earlier. In addition, we are declaring 8 more villages as ODF free. The people who have uploaded the photo of completion of works for the second time, they will get Rs 12,000 deposited into their accounts,” informed the District Collector.
