Harish Rao unveils statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Siddipet

Siddipet: Caretaker minister T Harish Rao on Tuesday unveiled a statue of Mahatma Gandhi under the auspices of Yuva Pithaji Youth in Gandhinagar. Addressing the gathering, he lauded the Father of the Nation for being torch-bearer for other countries in securing independence in a democratic way.

Rao stated that thanks to the efforts of Gandhiji in freeing the country from the clutches of the British people were now able to breathe free. He lauded caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for a 14-year relentless fight in securing statehood for Telangana. “KCR is keen on ushering in Gram Swaraj as visualised by Gandhiji”, he stated, adding that is why he introduced a new Gram Panchayat Raj Act.

Rao advised people to take up a green and clean drive and follow the path shown by Gandhiji. ‘Every student should plant a sapling on her/her birthday’. He said Telangana State was the result of KCR’s struggle, while calling for active participation of people in every endevour.
