5 non-life convicts get remission

Chanchalguda: The Government of India has given special remission to five non-life convicted prisoners on commemoration of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The four non-life convicted prisoners have completed two-third (66%) of their actual sentence period and one non-life convicted prisoner aged 60 and above, who has completed 50 per cent of his actual sentences, were released by K Arjuna Rao, Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison Hyderabad on Friday.

On the occasion, K Arjuna Rao, Superintendent of Prisons, Central Prison, Hyderabad, expressed his gratitude to the Government of India for giving an opportunity to the prisoners to lead crime-free and respectable life. He also offered jobs to the freed prisoners under the ‘Mahaparivarthan Programme,’ an initiative taken up by V K Singh, IPS, Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Telangana State. P Saibaba, Deputy Superintendent of Prisons, and others participated in the programme.
