Indian Space Research Organisation introduces world of space to students
Kothagudem: A three-day World Space Week exhibition was inaugurated at KCOA Club in the coal town on Friday. Students from different schools attended the programme with enthusiasm. The Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in association with the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has organised the programme.
This is the first time that such a programme is being conducted in the district. The programe is being conducted by the Indian Research Organisation (ISRO). Speaking on the inauguration of the programme, SDSC Chief Genral Manger of Sriharikota Range (SHAR) R Senthil Kumar informed that Chandrayan-II will be launched in January, 2019.
He explained that in the next January, India will be among the four world nations that have the capability of launching a moon-lander with the launch of Chandrayan-II mission. The expenditure for the ISRO's Mangalayan project also called Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) is less than the cost involved in making a Hollywoood movie. It explains the technology capability of ISRO, he pointed out.
Senthil Kumar further said that in November ISRO is preparing to launch 32 satellites of India and other nations in a single launch vehicle PSLV. Use of cutting edge technology has enabled the ISRO to reduce the payload, the weight of biggest satellite to launch in that mission is 300 kilograms.
Addressing the exhibition, District Collector Rajat Kumar Saini praised the organisers of the programme in the district. He said, “in my entire service, this is first time that I am attending such a programme.” He appealed to all the school children to attend the programme and learn and improve their knowledge.
SDSC director S Pandian explained the World Space Exhibition to the students in his speech. He explained the services of great scientists of Satish Dhawan, Vikram Sarabhai, APJ Adbul Kalam and others in the programme.
SCCL Director Shanker,General Manager APD-GSLV, SDSC, TS Raghuram, District Educational Officer Vasanthi and other officers attended the program. The premises of the exhibition witnessed with the full of various school students in the program.
