Scribes’ relay hunger strike enters 3rd day

Patancheru: A relay hunger strike by journalists of the constituency, in protest against the officials turning a blind eye to their long-pending issues, entered the third day on Friday. Journalists across the associations formed a JAC to voice their rights. Apart from job security for the journalists, they are demanding that they should be brought under the bracket of minimum wages. The JAC also demanded resolution of another long-pending issue of providing house sites to the journalists as well as accident insurance of Rs 30 lakh for each scribe.

Almost 70 scribes from both print and electronic media, video journalists attended.   Congress leaders Gali Anilkumar, Anjireddy, TDP leader and ZPTC member of Patancheru Srikanth Goud and members of Yedla Ramesh Yuvasena, Balaram from BC Association, Sridhar from Navabharat Yuvasena, candidate from New India Mohandas Rajaiah, district executive committee member of CPM Raajiah, district vice president of SFI, Sandeep, leader of BC Association Ch Badri, BJP leader Mahender, Gouse and others were present.
