Revanth: KCR trying to cash in on sentiments
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said that caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been trying to turn the elections in the State as fight between him and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to cash in on the sentimental factor.
Addressing the media, he said that the next elections in the State would be between the Congress and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). He said that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) was born on the soil of Telangana and a person of the State has been heading it. Revanth said though the AP Chief Minister did not have a vote in Telangana, he was being criticised.
Demanding apologies from a section of media, for reports about him on disproportionate assets, he alleged that these media houses tried to show that he has assets worth of thousands of crores of rupees during the Income Tax department raids on his residence. He said that the IT official stated that they have been questioning him on the basis of the reports appeared in the media.
He said that the media houses should come out with apologies within 24-hours or he would go to the court against them. Revanth said that the government failed to lift the cases on the activists of Telangana movement as only 1,150 cases have been withdrawn so far out of the 3,152 cases booked between 2011 and 2014.
Though the railway police have booked about 260 cases on Telangana activists, only the cases on Chandrashekar Rao’s family members were lifted. He wanted to know as to why the cases on the students have not been lifted so far.
The former MLA questioned that how the caretaker Chief Minister and his family members have earned assets worth of thousands of crores of rupees. He wanted to know how the family of the Chief Minister established TV channel and newspapers.
