Watchman killed, hundi looted at Saibaba temple

Kothagudem: The watchman of Saibaba Temple at Peon Basthi, located in the coal town, was found dead on Sunday. The devotees who visited the temple during morning hours were shocked at seeing the watchman lying dead and the hundi looted. They immediately alerted the police. The Superintendent of Police Sunil Dutt and Kothagudem DSP, SM Ali rushed to the spot and inspected the crime scene.

According to police, the deceased was identified as ChVenkat Reddy (70), the resident of Peon Basthi and was serving as watchman at the temple located behind the SCCL headquarters .The unidentified attackers hit the watchman’s head with iron rods. 

Dog squad and clues team were pressed into service to trace the assailants. The police have also been examining the CCTV camera footage to find clues about the incident.

DSP, Ali informed that two teams led by CIs of Chunchupalli and the  town police stations have been formed to catch the accused. According to the temple authorities, there would have been around Rs 1.5 lakh cash in the hundi, he said.
