Goof-up by Uppal RTA

Uppal: The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) at Uppal finds itself in a spot for one reason or the other. On Tuesday, scores of people who had booked slots for various services offered by the RTA landed at the office in spite of a holiday. Reason! The authorities failed on two counts; first, booking slots on Bathukamma festival was uncalled for as officials knew it would be a holiday; and, secondly, the least they could have done was put up a notice board.

Arvind, a consumer who waited till 12 noon, said, “Since we booked a slot, we thought the staff would come. They should have informed us through an SMS and also put up a notice board. I wasted my three hours just waiting.” Another irate customer, Mallikarjuna Rao said, “There is always a problem here. The last time I came here the servers developed snags and work was affected.”

Telangana State Auto Trolley Union organizing secretary, M Dayanand says, “It is only after the TRS government coming to power that a holiday for Bathukamma festival is being given. The RTA authorities know about this for the last four years, they should have announced it well in advance. So many people turned up at the RTA.”
