TSRTC ignored by TRS govt: Oppn
Musheerabad: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Employees Union organised a meeting on ‘Protection of RTC and safeguarding labour rights’ at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram here on Tuesday.
TJS president Prof Kodandaram, Congress working president Ponnam Prabhakar Goud, TDP state president L Ramana, CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and others participated in the meeting.
Remembering the key role played by RTC employees during the Telangana agitation, former MP Ponnam criticised that the present government had ignored RTC and did not even appoint permanent MD to the organisation in the last four years of its rule.
He lambasted the abusive comments made by KCR against their leaders during his campaign.
This indicates his fear of defeat in the forthcoming elections, he said.
Comparing government to a bus, Prof Kodandaram said it was the right of employees to question fitness of the driver, and one cannot be arrested for questioning it, indirectly referring to his recent arrest.
He questioned the government why it had not fulfilled its promises regarding RTC division.
He held TRS government responsible for the recent bus accident at Kondagattu.
He promised that grand alliance ‘Mahakutami’ will fulfill the promises made during Telangana agitation.
CPI leader Chada Venkat Reddy and TDP leader L Ramana also extended their support to RTC and promised the employees that they would consider the demand of merging RTC in government.
Telangana Employees Union president S Babu, secretary K Raji Reddy, Shankar Murali and other employee leaders participated in the meeting.
