EVMs at key places for awareness drive
Hyderabad: In a bid to spread awareness among citizens on how the EVMs, VVPATs work, 50 static and four mobile centres were arranged at Necklace Road, Tank Bund, KBR Park, Charminar, Secunderabad, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills, Golkonda and other areas by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.
The citizens to have a clear idea of the working conditions of the EVMs and VVPATs and also how to cast their vote and to know whom they have voted whether the system is working properly and the voter will know whom he voted for, said District Electoral Officer (DEO) Dana Kishore.
In the last one week, around 10,000 people visited the above centres and acquainted themselves about the process of voting and working of EVMs and VVPADS. Now the existing four mobile vehicles would be strengthened further by deploying six or more mobile vehicles for awareness purpose said Hari Chandana, Zonal Commissioner.
After the Dussehra holidays the GHMC is planning to take up such awareness campaigns in all degree and professional colleges where students would be given a demo about the working of EVMs and VVPADS.
The information with regard to mobile vehicles the officials are uploading the information on the website for the convenience of the citizens. On Thursday, all the 15 returning officers took up awareness campaigns in their jurisdiction. The centres would function from 10 am to 5 pm everyday said the DEO.
