TRS netas keen to switch to Congress

Hyderabad: Telangana Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Friday said that several important leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi were in touch with Congress leaders and some would join the party soon. Speaking to the media persons informally, Uttam said that important leaders of the TRS were disillusioned with the party and were ready to join Congress as it has bright prospects of winning the next elections.

He said that the Congress and alliance partners would win more than 80 seats in the Assembly and, added that according to surveys, the pink party would be limited to 20 seats. Uttam said that they have completed the review of 119 Assembly constituencies to finalise the candidates. Talks with Telangana Jana Samithi president Kodandaram were going on.

Stating that the talks with the proposed alliance partners were continuing in positive way, Uttam said that clarity would come on seat-sharing in a day or two. Speaking on the campaigning by UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Uttam said that public meetings would be held at one place for every 10 constituencies where the key national leaders would address the people. 

He said that both the mother and the son would address about 12 public meetings in the State. Uttam said that the draft of the alliance has been finalised and no decision on the tickets has been taken. He requested the aspirants not to be carried away by media reports.

The PCC president said that social justice and winning chances would be considered primarily for selection of candidates. He said that the high command has been considering the idea of one ticket to one family. Uttam said that the name of the proposed alliance would be changed and the leaders of the alliance would hold a combined campaign.
