Regularise part-time junior lecturers: Part-Time Junior Lecturers Association

Khammam: The Part-Time Junior Lecturers Association (PTJLA) district president NV Sathyam Babu on Tuesday demanded the government to regularise the part-time junior lecturers who are teaching vocational courses in government junior colleges.

Addressing the media persons at the Press Club, NV Sathyam Babu said there are around 60 part-time junior lecturers in several government junior colleges across the district and are facing a lot of problems as they are not receiving salaries for six months.

In 1994, the government paid Rs 20 per period and allotted nearly 72 periods paying Rs 1,440 as a basic pay. Later, the government enhanced the amount and paid Rs 150 per period (Rs 10,800 for 72 periods) and at present the government is paying Rs 300 per period (Rs, 21,600 for 72 periods as a basic pay), he informed.

In each college, there are two part time junior lecturers teaching vocational courses taking more than 100 periods in a month. But the government is paying for only 72 periods, he alleged.

The government must pay Rs 37,100 to every part-time junior lecturer working in government junior colleges. But by showing full-time lecturers as part time in the record, the government is paying only Rs 21,600. Apart from that, the government has not paying them salaries for six months, he added.

He demanded the government to regularise their services and consider them as full- time lecturers apart from paying basic scale of Rs37,100 to all the lecturers who are teaching vocational courses in the government junior colleges. Association’s members K Krishna, Srinivas Rao, S Shankar and G Venkateswhar Rao among others were present on the occasion.
