Thousands of devotees throng Basara temple

Adilabad: Large number of devotees thronged Goddess Gnana Saraswathi temple here on Monday. It took at least five hours for the devotees to have Goddess darshan.

On the occasion of Moola Nakshtram (the birthday of the Goddess), priests conducted maha abhishekam, maha harathi after performing puja to the Goddess. 

The devotees started pouring in to the temple from Saturday to have Goddess darshan after taking holy bath in River Godavari. Later they participated in abhishekam and alankarana seva programme. In the early hours of Monday, priests conducted aksharabhyasam to more than thousand children. 

Mudhole MLA Vittal Reddy distributed milk, biscuits and drinking water to the pilgrims at the temple. Temple chairman Sharath Pathak, assistant executive officer Ganga Srinivas and superintendent Sailu were also accompanied the MLA.
