Mahbubnagar: A farmer from Chilkamarri village of Farookhnagar mandal of erstwhile Mahbubnagar district committed suicide by hanging himself in his house on Tuesday.

According to villagers, Peddasai Mallaiah (45), who belonged to the Scheduled Caste community, had 1 acre 12 guntas of land which he had sold to one Krishnaiah 3 years ago at Rs 9 lakhs per acre. However, Krishnaiah only maid part payment of Rs 4 lakh and withheld the remaining amount saying that the land sold to him was encroached upon by some tribal people.

Mallaiah was worried and depressed when Krishnaiah put the condition of clearing the encroachment to get the remaining payment. On the other hand, Mallaiah who had two wives and two sons and two daughters, was planning to get one of her daughters married off. For this Mallaiah approached Krishnaiah for money, but as the later denied to pay the balance amount, the depressed farmer took the extreme step and committed suicide by hanging himself in his house.

Mallaiah’s relatives and both wives Yadamma and Indiramma are accusing Krishnaiah for their husband’s death. “Since past 3 years Krishnaiah has been harassing our husband by not paying the amount for our land. Because of this he has committed suicide. Krishnaiah must take the responsibility for our husband’s death,” said the weeping wives of Mallaiah.
