Heavy downpour off woes in Madhapur

Madhapur: The heavy rainfall that lashed Hyderabad on Tuesday night left many parts of the city under water and disturbed normal life. The most affected areas in the western parts of the city included Madhapur, Hi-Tec City and Kondapur.

Earlier, the morning rains had also resulted in water logging and traffic snarls. Vehicles were seen getting stuck in water-logged streets resulting in traffic jams in many parts of the city.

The situation of west zone was so pathetic that the roads, especially in the prime locations like Madhapur, Kondapur and Jubilee Hills were under water. Commuters, who never expected rains and were unprepared, were seen struggling to begin their day. The shop owners had to go through a hell of a time in opening the shutters due to knee-deep flowing in front of the shops.

From Malaysian township to Hi-Tech city, the roads which are used by most of the commuters are KPHB to Kukatpally towards Hi-Tech city and Gachibowli to rest of the areas which were water-logged.

Rajini MM, a software employee asked, “Why we should vote? Politicians are not bothered about potholes, manholes and water logging problems. We pay taxes regularly and it is our right to demand basic facilities.”

Aditya commuting from Hi-Tech city to Gachibowli said, “It is shameful that we have to commute through pothole filled roads very often and now in this heavy rain we are afraid to ply as it is difficult to identify the potholes.”
