Submit details of criminal cases, candidates told
Khammam: District Collector RV Karnan on Wednesday asked the candidates contesting the upcoming Assembly elections must submit the details of their pending criminal cases while filing their nomination papers.
Speaking to the media persons in a pressmeet held at Pragna Conference Hall in the Collectorate, the Collector said that as per the instruction issued by the Supreme Court, the candidates while filing their nomination papers the candidates must enter the details of their pending cases as per the format-C1 through affidavit.
The candidates who are contesting in the elections must inform the public three times from the time of filing of nomination papers to until withdrawal through local news papers and TV channels which are functioning in the respective constituencies about their pending criminal cases, informed the Collector.
The Collector told the media about Suvidha Single Window Portal through which the candidates who are contesting the elections can get permission with ease within 24 hours related to their election campaigning, he added.
The Election Commission of India introduced new app ‘C-Vigil’ for lodging the complaints against the candidates and the parties who violate the ‘Model Code of Conduct’. The people can upload the details of the candidates and parties which are violating the Model Code of Conduct through this app for taking necessary action against them, said the Collector.
District Joint Collector Ayesha Masrath Khanam, Assistant Collector Hanumanthu Kodimba, Expenditure Nodel Officer Akhil Chand and In-charge District Revenue Officer Madan Gopal were also present on the occasion.
