TDP lines up slew of sops for people

Hyderabad: Free laptops to college going students, Rs 3,000 per month allowances to unemployed youth, farm loan waiver up to Rs 2 lakh, national project status to one irrigation project and year wise job calendar are among the important promises to be included in the election manifesto prepared by the Telangana Telugu Desam Party (TDP) unit. The party is likely to announce the manifesto in two or three days soon. 

The party manifesto committee headed by senior leaders T Devendar Goud and R Chandrashekhar Reddy finalised the manifesto in consultation with other members of the committee and forwarded to party Chief N Chandrababu Naidu for final nod. 

Soon after Naidu approved, party President L Ramana will declare the manifesto. 

The party leaders said  BC sub plan, Minority sub plan, Rs 2,000 pension to old aged, establishment of a permanent Telangana martyrs memorial, construction of permanent offices and residential buildings for Chief Minister, Ministers and distribution of bicycles to all girl students studying between fifth standard to intermediate will also be adopted as the TDP’s poll promises in the assembly elections to be held on December 7 in Telangana. 

Abolition of the contributory pension scheme, special welfare schemes for the poor in the forward castes, revival of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad and Rs 1.50 lakh financial assistance to all poor families to perform their daughters’ marriages will also be included in the manifesto.    

A senior leader said the promises made by the party in the manifesto will reflect the TDP’s vision. 

The issues covered in the manifesto will not figure in Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the Mahakutami – a combination of Congress, TDP, CPI and Telangana Jana Samithi.
