Kutami, BJP yet to name candidats; TRS way ahead
Chevella: The Chevella constituency is witnessing interesting political developments where bigwigs in Congress are competing with each other for the party ticket in the December elections. Kale Yadaiah of the same party, who won the seat in last elections joined TRS and got the ticket from the pink party.
Disappointed with this development, K S Ratnam switched loyalty from TRS to Congress. As many as seven Congress leaders are in the fray for the candidature. Among them are senior leader Venkata Swamy, Shamshabad sarpanch R Siddheshwar, former legislator KS Ratnam, teachers’ union president Pochaiah, Sadalakshmi, former naxalite Bheem Bharat Yadaiah Sulochana and district Congress president Kyama Mallesh. All these aspirants are hopeful of getting the ticket.
Though Chevella TDP legislator joined TRS and contest in last 2014 elections, he was defeated in the hands of Congress candidate Kale Yadaiah by a margin of 781 votes. TDP candidate Mekala Venkatesh got 15,117 votes. The Constituency became reserved from 2009. Candidates from Reddy community won seven times, others won thrice and contestants from SC community won twice. Yadaiah who won on Congress ticket in the last elections recently joined TRS and secured the ticket. When compared to other parties, the TRS is forging ahead in the poll campaign. From the BJP side, party district general secretary Seri Nasing Rao and leader Kanjarla Prakash are likely to be in fray for the candidature.
