Update: 2018-10-27 05:30 IST

Khammam: The Girijana Sangham on Friday declared that it is going to support Congress in Khammam constituency irrespective of the candidate the party chooses. The decision was taken at the general body meeting of the Sangham held at Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan in the city.

Addressing the meeting, Sangham’s district unit president Donadas Venkatrao Naik alleged that during the 2014 elections, TRS had promised it would allot three acres of land to poor tribal families in addition to double bedroom houses but failed to keep the promise after coming to the power and deceived the tribal people.

Adding to their misery, the government used the police force to evict the tribal farmers from podu lands who have been cultivating since past several years.

Therefore, to teach the TRS party a fitting lesson, all the tribal people have unanimously decided to extend their support to the Congress party and vote for its candidates to defeat TRS candidates, he said. Those who attended the meeting include S K Nanne Bachhe, R Gopi, Yerraboina Ashok, S K Babu and D Ramesh and others.
