6 Maoists on way to plant landmines arrested
Kothagudem: Charla police have arrested six militiamen of outlawed CPI (Maoist) party and recovered a huge quantity of explosives from them in Charla mandal in the district on Tuesday.
ASP Sangram Singh Patil told presspersons at Bhadrachalam that the militia members were apprehended during vehicle inspections at Lenin Colony Unjupalli road in Charla mandal of the district by Charla police and a CRPF team.
The arrested Maoists were identified as Madavi Bhudra, Madavi Bheema, Madavi Sukka, Kunjum Adama, Madavi Jaga and M Bhudra all Gothikoyas hailing from Rampur village of Pujari Kanker panchayat in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh.
According to the ASP, the militia members attended a meeting at Pujari Kanker on Sunday which was participated by the Maoists senior leaders, dalams and militia members.
The militia members told to stay at Lenin Colony and wait for further instructions to plant the landmines to kill police parties. The arrested persons have revealed that they dug pits and planted iron bars covering them with garbage, two months ago, in the forests of Vaddipeta of Charlamandal to kill police parties, the ASP explained.
The iron bars were seized from Vaddipeta, cases were booked against the accused at Charla police station and they were produced before the court. The seized material includes, 30 gelatine sticks, five detonators, 3 tiffin boxes and 180 iron bars, he added.
