Shameerpet: Measures have been taken to beautify Rajiv Rahadari highway which passes from Hyderabad to Karimnagar, which connects state capital to Siddipet, Peddapalli, Ramagundam, GodavariKhani, and Mancherial district centers.

Earlier in 2015, HMDA had planted Oleander flower plants in the central median and plants were maintained by R&B department through contractors. In July 2018, Chief secretary to CM and HMDA Commissioner inspected the road and suggested that it needs to be further beautified. As per their instructions, a pilot project was taken up for one kilometer initially, which was to be extended later to the entire stretch of the road.

Metropolitan Commissioner sanctioned Rs 19.25 for the pilot project. As part of pilot project, decorative trees which can be pruned into shapes were planted. New variety of flower plant Queen Crape Myrtle from the species Lagerstroemia Speciosa was interspersed in the middle. The plant has flowers for five to six months. The rest of central median is carpeted with lawn grass. The central median where the pilot project has been taken up now not only looks beautiful but also attracts commuters.
