Get Telangana youth released from Gulf jails
Nizamabad: Dr B Kesavulu, psychologist and founder of Mano Vignana Vedika (MVV), on Tuesday appealed to the State and Central governments to secure the release of thousands of people of the State languishing in Gulf jails.
Speaking as a chief guest at a programme on ‘Gulf jaillo Telugu biddalu—Vari Badhalu’ (Telugu youth in Gulf jails and their problems), at MVV office here, Dr Kesavulu said that thousands of youth and middle-aged persons are going to Gulf countries as there are no jobs here in Telangana State and most of them are languishing in Gulf jails due to health problems, cheated by agents or for unofficial stay etc and it is the responsibility of both State and Central governments to release them.
The Amnesty programme will conclude by October 31 and only those people, who are having passport and other relevant documents, were being released from prison. While others, who were cheated by the agents and living there on visit visa, are struggling a lot as they can neither get work in Gulf nor return, Kesavulu lamented.
More than 50,000 to 60,000 people of Telangana has to get benefitted from the Amnesty programme. Out of the 10,000 to 12,000 persons from united Nizamabad, only 5,000 returned to India, he said and demanded the State and Central governments to take the responsibility of speaking
with the Gulf governments regarding the penalty and get the prisoners released even by paying the penalty.
Lok Satta district president Dodla Shekhar, Bidi Welfare Society president Rapelli Srinivas, Akula Srinivas and MVV activists and others participated in the meeting.
