Hyderabad: The University of Leicester in the UK will award 100 centenary scholarships each year to undergraduates between 2018 and 2020 to support new generation of Leicester students.

According to Bill Friar, Group Director, Philanthropy, Alumni and Community Engagement, the first 100 scholarships have been fully funded, thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends.

‘This is a direct example of your philanthropy at work’, Bill wrote in ‘Gryphon’, the university alumni magazine 2018, while addressing  the alumni, a copy of which has been sent to Nikhil Vodapally of Hyderabad, who is settled in London.

Bill said as the reputed institution approaches beginning of the centenary commemorations, the very first University of Leicester Alumni Awards Dinner will take place in London in March 2019.

According to him the alumni are involved in tackling the momentous task of saving New York’s  subways and playing a memorable part in ‘Game of Thrones’.

The magazine mentions the news of the campus transformation, an update on Leicester’s role in Bepi Columbo Mission to Mercury and a fascinating insight into the university’s collaborative approach to improving air quality.
