Barricades of old bridge collapse
Petbasheerabad: Politicians and officials, who make tall claims on city development, seem to be playing with the lives of people by neglecting their pleas. This became clear on Tuesday following the collapse of cement barricades of an old and congested bridge under the Petbasheerabad police limits after a tractor hit the structure and crashed to the ground.
Three persons, including the tractor driver, were injured in the incident. They were hospitalised. As the mishap occurred on the Medchal-Jeedimetla Industrial Estate Link Road traffic was paralysed.
The Quthbullapur DCP and the Traffic police led by ACP Narsimha rao, regulated movement of vehicles on the road. Local residents had made several representations to officials and people’s representatives to build a new bridge.
However, officials erected cement barricades on either side of the bridge to protect it from collapsing. The residents told the hans india that officials should repair the barricades as also street lights so as to avert accidents and save lives.
