Demand for including Yadavs in semi-nomadic tribes

Khammam: Yadav Hakkula Porata Samiti (YHPS) national president Mekala Ramulu Yadav on Tuesday demanded the government to include the Yadav community under Semi Nomadic Tribe (SNT) category. He also urged the political parties to include the same in their election manifesto.

Speaking to the media at the Press Club in Khammam, M Ramulu Yadav said that in the past, people belonging to the Yadav community used to live earn their livelihood rearing sheep and goats and cattle wandering from one place to another place. In course of time, some of them got settled at one place but still some Yadavs are following the same age- old tradition. 

Keeping this in view, the government must revise the reservations and must include the Yadav community under Semi-Nomadic Tribe along with establishing a special corporation by sanctioning Rs 2,000 crore funds, he demanded.

Speaking further, he claimed that the as many Yadavs form 20 per cent of the total population in Telangana. Therefore, the political parties must allot about 24 tickets to Yadavs as per the ratio of population present in the State, he added.

He also demanded the political parties to include in their elections manifesto of sanctioning of Rs3,000 pension to people belonging  the Yadav community who crossed above 50 years of age  and give nominated posts to Yadavs as per the population ratio.
