Hyderabad: TRS leader and Minister K T Rama Rao on Tuesday gave a new definition of his father and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's acronym by stating that KCR meant Kaluvalu (canals), Cheruvulu (Lakes) and Reservoirs.

The minister addressing two public meetings ‘Praja Ashirvada Sabha’ in Yellareddy and Kamareddy, said that development would stop if Mahakutami comes to power. “The vision and aim of KCR is to bring as much as one crore acres of land under irrigation to turn the parched lands of Telangana into a green belt,” he said.

Drawing a parallel, Rao said that as Telangana poet Dasarathi attracted people by writing ‘Naa Telangana Koti Rathanala Veena’, KCR is now making persistent efforts to irrigate one crore acres to make agriculture flourish by completing irrigation projects. “The opposition is getting envious and was giving shameless statements to stall the projects and development works,” he deplored.

Rao alleged that the Congress party leaders were glued to ministerial posts like bats during the statehood movement at the cost of self-respect of Telangana people. Their eyes had turned red even as Telangana began turning green and the opposition leaders are known for hiding money in car engines, to buy the leaders for trying to win the elections.

The minister further said that TRS government has put in efforts in the past four years and developed the region in terms of agriculture. He expressed displeasure at the Congress forging alliance with the Telugu Desam for financial support in the elections. If Congress- TDP alliance comes to power in Telangana, the irrigation projects will be stopped, he cautioned.

Rama Rao said that Congress has no cadre and TDP has no leader in Telangana. Holding a bunch of letters in hand, Rama Rao said, “Chandrababu Naidu has written as many as 30 letters to the Centre asking them not to give permission for irrigation projects in Telangana.

How can these leaders do any good to Telangana when they want to stop the development works in the state,” he asked. The Minister mentioned that water and uninterrupted power supply had been the top priority of CM KCR during the past four years.

He highlighted the flagship programmes at the meeting and said that more than 40 lakh poor people received pensions in the state after TRS came to power. He announced the setting up of food processing unit at Yellareddy after the people gave mandate to the TRS.
