SHE teams on a roll: 21 FIRs and 20 petty cases registered against eve teasers
HYDERABAD: In the last three weeks Rachakonda police SHE teams have filed 21 FIRs and 20 petty cases against eve teasers and counselled 56 persons who were caught for sexual harassment of women cases. Those who have been arrested included 16 minors.
Among those who were caught, one of them was a RTC bus conductor who was found harassing a minor girl. The victim, was an intermediate student of a private college who has been travelling through TSRTC bus every day to her college. During the journey the victim noticed that the conductor of the TSRTC bus AP28Z 2961 route number 16 A was intentionally and indecently touching the girl constantly while issuing the tickets on a pretext of heavy rush. The woman passed on the information to the police through “SHE FOR HER” whatsapp group and the police caught the accused E P Srinivas (53), a resident of Tukramagate. A case under POCSO was registered against the conductor.
In another case, a lecturer who had allegedly raped a 22 year old girl student, who has been staying at a hostel in Chaitanyapuri and is studying at a college in Koti. During her study she got acquainted with a faculty member named Kota Vamsee Raja (28), who had promised to marry her but later backed off. The police filed a case under Section 376, 417, 420, 493 of IPC and other Sections of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 2015.
A few ‘unsocial’ factors have been caught by the SHE teams during the decoy operations that were being held in TSRTC buses, bus stops and markets. The She Teams also stopped two child marriages in Malkajgiri and Bhongir.
