Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set November 15 as deadline to install compost machines at the site where the bulk garbage is generated. All establishments that produce more than 100 kg of waste per day have to set up a compost machine at the site. A senior GHMC official said that this was as per the solid waste management Rules, 2016 and protocol to achieve star ratingsforgarbage-free cities.

Accordingly, GHMC after identifying all the bulk garbage generators (BGG) has served notices and paper notifications on them. In case any BGG fails to implement the same within the specified deadline, the GHMC will enforce and take necessary action against them without any prior intimation, informed an official.

Zone-wise exhibition

For the convenience of BGGs, GHMC would be conducting zone-wise exhibitions where customers can have a demo of all kinds of Onsite Waste Composting (OWC) machines and purchase the one suitable for his establishment.  All the leading OWC machine manufacturers/ suppliers would be participating in the exhibition.

GHMC would be providing the space and power supply to OWC machine manufactures/ suppliers to give demo to visitors.GHMC is requesting all BGGs to visit the exhibition so that they can see live demo of the working of OWCs. As GHMC is continually striving to achieve better sanitation & solid waste management in the city, it is expected from all the BGGs to co-operate and undertake immediate required action in implementing the same.
