RTC buses skipping designated halts

Miyapur/Kukatpally: The residents of Kukatpally, JNTU and Miyapur are a worried lot as the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) buses do not stop at the bus stops but further away. As a result, passengers need to move several yards. The aged and the very young invariably miss the bus. 

Literally, Commuters are facing lot of troubles to catch buses at Miyapur, Hydernagar, JNTU and Kukatpally Y junction bus stops. Women and children especially old-age persons are complaining about improper bus bays. “Naabassunu bus bay lo ne aaputanu. Pragativaipudusukeltanu” was the slogan by RTC introduced in 2015 to make corporation best but it is not in practice currently. RTC also conducted a workshop to create awareness among drivers about bus bays.

A 50-year-old lady was hurt by bike at Hydernagar bus stop while stepping down from the bus as driver halted the bus on road. When driver asked the reason he rudely replied there was only single passenger to get down it’s not possible to take the bus in bus bay. Vijiender who was waiting for the bus at JNTU with his two children said, “Drivers stopped the bus middle of the road it is risky to take the bus with children. Accident may take place if motorcycles pass sometimes between bus and bus bays. Controllers should be appointed at each bus stop, he said.”   

Bus bays were installed previously for bus halting on the point to pick and drop topassengers who are waiting for bus.Buses being stopped between the road creating chaosatbusy areas such as Nizampet,KPHB and JNTU bus stops in peak hours. Most of the citizens prefer RTC buses to travel. Despite having bus bays they forced to wait long for buses. It is the corporations responsibility to make sure all the buses stop only at bus bays to serve passengers. Departmentmust conduct training workshop for drivers to avoid thiskind of practices.
