Kukatpally: On the occasion of birth anniversary of ‘Iron Man of India’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, BJP Medchal district unit organised ‘Run for Unity’ at Nizampet on Wednesday. BJP national secretary Muralidhar Rao flagged off the run. Earlier, he garlanded the statue of Patel and paid floral tributes to the great leader.

Speaking on the occasion, he extolled role played by the leader in unifying India post independence.  Calling him as iron man of India, he said that with his steely determination, he managed to merge several independent provinces in India. It is apt that Rastriya Ekta Divas is celebrated on his birth anniversary, he said.

District BJP president Madhavaram Krishna Rao said that Patel is the modern architect of India who has brought together 560 independent provinces to form a new India. He also remembered his role in liberating Telangana from atrocious razakar rule of Nizam. Later, the run was held from Patel’s statue at Nizampet cross roads to Vivekananda statue at Kukatpally. A large number of students and youth participated in the run. Among those participated in the program include Srikar Rao, Vijith, Yoga Guru Bhanu Das, Vinod and others.
