BC association leader Dasu Suresh meets Congress manifesto panel

Hyderabad: The Telangana state BC Welfare Association general secretary Dasu Suresh met Congress manifesto committee chairman Damodhara Rajnarsimha and submitted a memorandum here on Thursday. He said most of the Gulf migrants from the State and workers in handloom and power loom industry belong to BC communities. These communities need to be given a political representation to raise their standards in the society and evolve a modern Telangana, he added.  

His other demands included Rs 5 lakh free insurance and Rs 5 lakh family health card for each BC family, hike in minimum wage for labourers, strengthening export system for handloom industry, opening outlets for selling handicrafts at tourist centres and Rs 2,000 pension for people belonging to occupation-based castes who are above 50 years. 

Congress manifesto chairman said that the demands mentioned in the memorandum would be considered while preparing the manifesto. Among those present on the occasion include manifesto committee convener Indira Shobhan, Bakka Judson, student leader Manavatha Roy, WDF secretary M Randheer, N Shiv Kumar Goud and others.
