Vikarabad: Vikarabad district elections returning officer Mothilal, DRO of Vikarabad district, held a meeting of representatives of political parties at RDO office here on Thursday. The meeting was held to explain political leaders election schedule, precautions to be taken during nominations and campaigning and rules and regulations to be followed during elections.

He explained thus the rules and regulations should be adhered to during nominations: Candidate has to take prior permission of returning officers if he wants to take out a rally during nominations. Rally should be stopped 200 meters of election officer’s office. Only five members are allowed to come along with the candidate into the election office. Duly filled-up nomination form along with supporting documents should be handed over to election officer. 

Candidates should be from any region of Telangana and provide evidence of being a voter to the election officer. Only one candidate is eligible to contest from each of national and regional parties. Up to ten candidates can file nominations as independents. Incomplete nomination will not be accepted. Candidates should attach a DD of Rs 5,000 along with the form. Candidates of recognized parties should submit Form B and Form A along with the form. Each candidate can spend up to Rs 28 lakhs for election campaigning. Agents of candidates who are allowed into polling centers should not carry mobiles with them. Carrying of any weapons during rally is banned. 

Candidates should take written permission from the owner of the land where election meetings are held. Rallies taken two parties should not confront one another. A candidate should submit details of expenditure once in every three days from his nomination date. Candidates can file nominations from 10 am to 3 pm. Agents should be the voter of the respective polling center. Mock polling will be conducted on the election date at 6 am for polling agents. Returning officer Mothilal warned political leaders that necessary legal action will be taken against those who violate rules and regulations of elections.
