Hyderabad: Stating that welfare of the weavers was the top priority of the TRS government, Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday said that he would make sure a Rythu Bandhu like scheme was brought for the weavers.

Addressing a huge gathering at the Krutagnatha Sabha in Sircilla Constituency, the Minister spoke about various schemes and programmes introduced by the TRS government for the welfare of weavers.

Stating that the weavers in the State were deprived of development by the past governments, the Minister said it was the TRS government which cared for them. “Similar to Rythu Bandhu programme, I will make sure such a scheme is introduced for the weavers of Telangana,” he said.

Appreciating the creativity of weavers, Rama Rao said, “We should address you as Cheneta Kalakarulu rather than Cheneta Karmikulu.”  He mentioned that while smaller countries like China and Bangladesh were manufacturing 40 per cent and 14 per cent clothes in the world, India was managing with just 4 per cent produce.

He added that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao always strived for the betterment of weavers in the State. Highlighting innovative programmes for weavers, he said, “In order to ensure that benefits of government schemes reach genuine weavers, the TRS government has introduced geo-tagging for all power looms in Sircilla.”

Later in the meeting, he ridiculed the Congress and TDP alliance. “Chandrababu Naidu backstabbed NTR for the second time by joining hands with Congress,” he said. He reiterated that if Congress - TDP alliance comes to power in Telangana, the irrigation projects would come to a halt and the State would go back into dark days again.

Seeking the support of the people of Sircilla, KTR said, “I will never forget the love and affection which people of Sircilla have showered on me. Please bless us once again in the forthcoming elections,” he appealed.
