Big buzz built on social media
Hyderabad: Social media platforms have turned into a battleground for the political parties as the leaders including ruling and opposition parties are getting targeted by unknown people.
There is no direct involvement of the political parties, but the pictures used in the video spoofs are of political leaders like caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, caretaker Ministers K T Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, TPCC Chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy, TJS chief Prof M Kodandaram, TDP president L Ramana and others. The users are making spoofs of popular films and making derogatory remarks against the leaders.
A video posted on Facebook by Telangana Jagruthi Warangal showed TRS president Chandrashekar Rao as hero of the Ajay Devgan starrer film ‘Singham,’ who is thrashing the Mahakutami leaders like N Uttam Kumar Reddy, president Kodandaram, L Ramana and others.
To counter this, the Congress party followers showed the TRS chief and his family members in bad light. A Facebook page called Congress for Telangana posted a morphed video of film and also gave voice. The video shows women thrashing the TRS leaders with broomsticks and sticks for not implementing promises.
Another Facebook user Nikhil Reddy Gudur posted a video depicting the caretaker Chief Minister, Ministers K T Rama Rao and Harish Rao in bad light as villains and Uttam Kumar as hero thrashing them. Some of the users posted morphed photographs of leaders like the TRS chief, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. The list goes on with one side targeting the other.
The Election Commission said that it would be keeping a close watch on the social media activities. As per the Model Code of Conduct, there should be no derogatory remarks against any individual. The TRS leaders have decided to lodge complaint against such posts to the Election Commission. “The posts are becoming derogatory and there should be an end to this. Hence we will lodge a complaint with the CEO,” said a TRS leader.
