Crackdown on illegal sale of liquor

Update: 2018-11-06 05:30 IST

Kulkacharla: In view of forthcoming elections, administration has been focusing on sale of illegal liquor through belt shops. With increased raids and checks in villages, sale of liquor has come down drastically. This had impact on the overall sales of liquor at licensed liquor shops. Only licensed liquor shops are allowed to sell directly, but the licensed shops are located only in mandal centres.

Hence liquor is sold in villages through illegal belt shops which are generally associated with licensed shops. Each village in Parigi has around four to five such belt shops. In view of elections, authorities are focusing on these belt shops and have increased vigilance on them. On last Saturday, Kulkacharla police caught illegal liquor at Mujahidpur of Kulkacharla mandal and filed case against the belt shop owner.  Due to the increased vigilance on belt shops, sale of liquor has come down significantly in Rapole, Ainapur, Mothkur, Ganjipalli, Malkapur, Raghavapur, Bompalli, Baspalli and  Godugonipalli villages.
