People seething at TRS over ROB issue
Tandur: The non-materialisation of the construction of Rail over Bridge(RoB), which Old Tandur people has been expecting for decades is now staring in the faces of TRS leaders and reminding them of their unfulfilled promise to build the ROB. Caretaker Minister Patnam Mahender Reddy who fought in 2014 elections as TRS candidate assured to construct the RoB if he was voted to power. But the RoB is still on papers and one foundation stone testifies to the failed assurance of the very first rulers of the newly created state.
Old Tandur with almost 20,000 population comes under Tandur Municipality in Vikarabad district. The people have to cross the decades-old railway track to reach outside world. The locality is surrounded by the track and there is no other alternative way to go to other places. The railway gate is closed every 20 or 30 minutes. Students, employees and common people have been facing a lot of inconvenience and are unable to reach their destinations even in emergency situations. A large number of vehicles wait on either side whenever the gate is closed. This often leads to accidents also.
Caretaker Ministers Mahender Reddy and Tummala Nageshwara Rao two years back laid the foundation to the RoB proposed at an estimated cost of Rs 51 crore. But nothing has materialised. Whenever the people asked about its construction, the ruling party leaders were adopting dilly-dallying tactics to avoid backlash. Again as the elections arrived, the people of Old Tandur are seething with anger to confront the TRS leaders.
