Election Commission appoints poll observers
Vikarabad: Election Commission of India has appointed poll observers to inspect violations of model code of conduct, poll expenses, publicity campaigns and voter inducements. Poll observers appointed for Tandur, Parigi, Vikarabad and Kodangal are expected to reach the respective constituencies by Sunday. Separate officers are appointed to look at different aspects of candidates: General, expenses and Police observation. They will submit a report to district election officer on violations. Based on their reports, District Election Officer (DEO) will take necessary legal action against the violators. All the polling observers have been selected from IAS, IPS and IRS ranked officers.
Poll observers
For Tandur and Kodangal constituencies, Baswaraj Samal has been appointed as general observer, Saroj Kumar Shadangi as expenses observer, and Himmat Abhilash Tak as police observer. For Parigi and Vikarabad constituencies, Shekhar Verma has been appointed as general observer, S Kishore as expenses observer and Babulal Meena as police observer. The DEO has allocated MLA camp office in Vikarabad as accommodation for poll observers. R&B officials have already handed over the keys of the camp office to the DEO. MLAs residing in camp office have already been vacated for the purpose.
Appointment of coordination officers
To coordinate with polling observers and returning officers, the DEO has appointed coordinating officers who will be referred as ‘liaison officers’. Tarik Anwar, Kulkacharla MPDO; Rajendra Prasad, Parigi APD; Shiva Kumar, CI-DCRB police department; Babu Moses, ED SC corporation; Sachin Dutt, ADA Tandur; and Srinivas Rao, CI Police department have been appointed as liaison officers.
Route officers informed
Details of poll observers have been passed to the route officers who are appointed to perform duties for various routes. Officers have already taken charge from October 12. Route officers have been already alerted on the duties to be performed.
