L B Nagar: The Telangana State BC Vidyarthi Yuvajana Sangham asserted here on Friday that the BCs would rather die starving than give up their self-respect. At a press conference, Sangham president Anantula Rammurthy Goud demanded reservations for BCs in legislature. He wanted all political parties to make clear their stand towards BCs in the ensuing Assembly elections. Otherwise, he called upon BCs to boycott all parties.

Goud, who extended the Sangham’s ‘total support’ for the Saturday’s State-wide bandh called by R Krishnaiah, alleged that all parties were viewing BCs as ‘vote-casting machines’, confining themselves to packages. He pointed out that in the last elections the Congress, TRS and BJP had ‘cheated BCs, by not honouring their promises. Hence people should not allow these parties to repeat the cheating in the 2019 poll.

He called upon capable BCs to contest the 2019 elections and business establishments and educational institutions to support Saturday’s Telangana bandh. Those present at the press conference included sangham general secretary Dhinikula Srinivas, convener Thanda Yekambaram, secretary Pulusu Srinivas, Suryapet district unit president Mahesh.
