Railway cops warn against footboard travel
Hyderabad: Hanging out of moving trains has now become a fashion. Scores of youngsters bound for colleges catch MMTS trains every day and challenge each other on who hangs on for a longer time. According to rough estimates, close to a dozen youngsters, mostly degree and intermediate students studying in the vicinity of Fateh Nagar, travel by trains and indulge in the feat.
Some do the feat to avoid buying tickets and to escape from ticket collectors, and others do it for the sake of adventure. A Radha, a psychologist, said, “Youngsters do such things to attract attention and for thrill. Most are so consumed by the idea that they do not bother about the consequences.”
RPF, Kachiguda Railway Station, Sub Inspector Syeda Tehseen said that plans are afoot to curb the problem. He said more policemen would be on duty to catch hanging passengers.
