Parigi: Endowment Officer Shekhar Goud said that encroachers of temple lands would be taken to task, no matter how powerful they are. The endowment department officials took over an alleged encroached land parcel belonging to Somalingeshwara Swamy temple. The controversy over the land issue has been resolved as the Endowment Tribunal declared that the land belongs to the temple. TRS leader Koppula Anil Reddy purchased 22.18 acres in Survey number 113 on the outskirts of Pudur. He purchased the land from a retired MRO Amarnath in 2005. He dug a borewell and had been cultivating in the land.

The then MLA Rammohan Reddy took the issue to the notice of endowment department that the land belonged to the temple. The officials approached the tribunal, which ordered status quo and also that no works should be taken up in the land. Locals filed a petition again in the tribunal as Anil Reddy did not give up the control over the land. Tribunal ordered him to attend with supporting documents claiming his ownership. But he did not attend the case.

The tribunal declared that the land belonged to the temple.  District Assistant Commissioner Sandhyarani, the EO of Ananthagiri temple, Shekhar Goud, and RI Parthasimha Reddy took over the land and erected boards, announcing that the land belonged to the endowment department.
