Employees elated over four holidays in a row
Hyderabad: A festive mood has already set in as there are a string of holidays starting today. Bankers, IT/ITeS employees, government employees and even people in the private sector are planning holidays to nearby tourist spots and a few even plan to visit other cities in different states. Bankers seem to be the happiest lot. Rama, a senior officer of Andhra Bank, said, “It is not everyday that we get so many holidays. Thanks to two festivals – Milad-un-Nabi and Guru Nanak Jayanthi– coupled with fourth Saturday, it is indeed a bonanza.”
In the case of Karthik Pallam, a software engineer who works for Deloitte, Thursday is Thanks Giving Day and he hopes that he would get a holiday. “I just have to work on a Friday and I get two days off. I am not taking a leave on Friday but quite a few people I know have and are going out of town,” he said. Many are planning holidays to trekking sites and to waterfalls. The Bogatha waterfalls at Jayashankar Bhupalapally seem to be a favourite spot. Recently discovered, the waterfall has caught the imagination of people in the city and ever since many are making a beeline.
The Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSRTC) officials say that the recently inaugurated ropeway at Laknavaram Laketoo is a place that is most sought after. Meghna K, a banker, said, “It is surprising that I was posted in Hanumakonda but never visited Laknavaram Lake but now when I am in Hyderabad, I feel the urge. We have planned to stay there overnight.”
