Global peace award conferred on writer Rajeev Sharma

Hyderabad: On the eve of Milad-Un-Nabi, Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary (as per Islamic calendar), this year’s International Peace Award by All India Bazm e Rahmat e Alam has been conferred on Rajeev Sharma, a famous writer from Rajasthan. A naturopath, Rajeev Sharma, 27, who came up with a 112-page book on the life of Prophet Muhammad, named ‘Paigambar Ro Paigam’ (message of prophet) in Marwari, also translated the Holy Quran in Marwari language. The All India Bazm e Rahmat e Alam had organised its 3rd International Peace Award Ceremony and Rahmat e Alam Jalsa e Milad-un-Nabi at Madina Education Centre, Nampally on Wednesday.

All India Bazm e Rahmat e Alam president MA Mujeeb, a High Court advocate, presided over the meeting. On the occasion, the Islamic scholars addressed the gathering highlighting the relevance of teachings of Prophet Mohammed in the present world scenario. All India Qirat Academy president Maulana Qari Syed Mateen Ali Shah Quadri, Dr Syed Aleem Ahsraf Jaisi, Professor of Arabic at Maulana Azad National Urdu University, and Moulana Dr Hafiz Mir Murtuza Ali Shah Quadri Lateefi, the Sajjada e Nasheen KhanKhahe Salasile Sufia, were present at the meeting. Speaking to media, Rajeev Sharma said he was thankful to the award presented by the All India Bazm e Rahmath e Alam. A native of Jhun Jhunu in Rajasthan, Sharma read about Prophet Muhammad and was impressed by his teachings. He wrote a book about him in Marwari, a regional language of Rajasthan in 2014 and published it online in 2015. He then started translating the Holy Quran into Marwari language.

According to the author, the book ‘Paighambar Ro Paigam’ spreads the message of peace by portraying the life and teachings of the Prophet to the people who are not well-versed in Arabic, Urdu, English or Hindi. The book was well-received in Islamic countries and Sharma’s efforts were lauded for writing the book in an endangered dialect. The book is available for free on Sharma’s e-library, which has a collection of over 300 books.
