MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi in cahoots with Congress leaders

Chanchalguda: The arch-rival of MIM, the Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) has alleged that the AIMIM continues to maintain secret relationship with the Congress, even though visibly backing TRS. In his reaction to the allegation made by the MIM party chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi that Nirmal’s Congress leaders offered him Rs 25 lakh to cancel a public meeting there, MBT spokesman Amjedullah Khan said he was not surprised by the revelation as MIM maintained relationship with Congress for long.

Demanding that the Election Commission look into the allegations and verify the authenticity of audio, MBT leader held that the Congress and the MIM were political partners for long and, perhaps, the existing Congress leadership in Nirmal hoped to continue cordial relationship ‘by offering the ‘amount’. “MIM has for long made a fool of the Congress party and made a good political bargain. Even in this election, I feel that Congress is not fielding strong candidates in the best interests of MIM,” Amjedullah suspected. Throwing jibes at the MIM leadership, the MBT leader said that Asaduddin was behaving like ‘begaani shadi mein Abdullah deewana’ by visiting Sangareddy, Nirmal and other towns to help TRS win, putting at stake his own bastion in the city. “Earlier other political bosses sent him to different towns and now it is KCR who is sending him to get Muslim votes,” he pointed out.

Recalling the observation of a Congress old timer, Amjed said that MIM is known for running ‘parallel Congress’ within Congress in the city and there remained secret understanding between some leaders of Congress and MIM high command. “This is one of the reasons that Congress did not field strong candidates against the MIM. And this was the proposition during the last two decades that led Asaduddin and his brother to make moolah and live a lavish life, which was not possible during their father’s time,” he noted.

On the ‘clandestine’ relationship between BJP and MIM, MBT spokesman wondered that when political detractors of BJP were facing immense hardships like CBI and Income Tax enquiries, why none of the officials from Central agencies looked into the MIM finances. “Since BJP is gaining in some way, the raids are not carried out. However, it cannot be ruled out that the MIM will keep itself aloof from Congress for long and will join forces once it comes to power,” Amjed felt.
